Comparison Report - Period Wise

The Period-Wise Comparison Report helps you track performance over time. It’s designed to show trends, highlight seasonal patterns, and measure growth or changes between specific periods in a way that’s easy to follow.


Creating a Period-Wise Comparison Report

  1. Open Reports
    Go to Group Financial Reporting > Reports and click Add Report.

  2. Choose Report Type
    From the dropdown, select Compare Period Wise.

  3. Set the Basics

  • Report Name: e.g., “Q1 vs Q4 P&L” or “2025 Monthly Trend”

  • Template Type: Profit & Loss or Balance Sheet

  • Group & GRT: Pick the relevant group and reporting template

  1. Define the Timeframes

  • Year: Select the financial year (e.g., 2025)

  • Frequency: Monthly, Quarterly, Semi-Annual, or Annual

  • Period: Choose the main period you want to review

  • Compare With: Previous Period, Same Period Last Year, or Custom

  1. Comparison Options
    Tick Arrange period/year from oldest to latest if you want results shown left to right in chronological order.

  2. Currency
    Choose your reporting currency (e.g., USD). GATHER automatically translates each period using the correct exchange rate.

  3. Generate Report
    Double-check your selections, then click Add.

Reading the Report

  • Header: Shows what’s being compared and in which currency

  • Completion Status: Green ticks confirm periods are fully consolidated

  • Columns: Each period is shown side-by-side, making it easy to spot movement

  • Account Structure: Consistent across periods so you can compare like-for-like

  • Drill-Down: Click any figure to see the underlying transactions

What to look for

  • Revenue: Growth, seasonal spikes, recurring streams

  • Costs: Expense shifts, efficiency gains or losses

  • Margins: How profitability changes over time

  • Balance Sheet: Movement in assets, liabilities, and equity

Advanced Options

  • Email Reports: Share directly with colleagues (up to 10 addresses). Add a short note for context if needed

  • Export: Download to XLS or XLSX for deeper analysis

  • Annotations: Add comments to explain trends or note external factors

Managing Reports

  • Edit: Update periods, entities, or other settings

  • Duplicate: Reuse the setup for a new comparison

  • Delete: Remove old reports you no longer need
