Reports 4 - Identifying Finalised Reporting Periods Using Sign Off

The Sign Off feature in GATHER.nexus enables users to identify whether a reporting period has been completed and finalised for a selected entity.

It provides visibility across the reporting process by clearly displaying the completion status of each reporting period, helping teams distinguish between periods that are still in progress and those that have already been completed.


How it Works

Each reporting period contains a Sign Off status reflecting the current completion stage for the selected entity.

Once a period has been signed off, it confirms that the reporting activities for that period have been completed and approved as part of the reporting workflow.

This helps users:

  • Track reporting completion status across entities

  • Identify periods ready for reporting or consolidation

  • Distinguish between open and completed reporting periods


How to Identify a Finalised Reporting Period

Steps

  • Navigate to the relevant reporting or workflow area

  • Select the required Entity

  • Select the relevant Reporting Period

  • Locate the Sign Off Status indicator


Three (3) Ways to View Completed Work

  1. Within Working Papers section

    • Navigate to Group Financial Reporting > Working Papers > click Overview of Completed Work hyperlink beside Complete Consolidation

  2. Within Reports section.

    1. Navigate to Group Financial Reporting > Reports > Preview (i.e.: GATHER.nexus Group UK) > locate the period (i.e.: January 2025) > check the status sign beside the month.

    2. Navigate to Group Financial Reporting > Reports > Add Report > select Report Type (i.e.: P&L) > Configure Report Details > click Overview of Completed Work hyperlink.


Understanding Sign Off Statuses

Signed Off

  • Confirms that the reporting period has been completed and finalised for the selected entity.

Not Signed Off

  • Indicates that the reporting period remains open or is still in progress.


Key Indicators of a Finalised Period

A reporting period is considered finalised when:

  • The Sign Off status displays as Signed Off

  • Required review or approval steps have been completed

  • The reporting workflow for the selected period is complete

Important Notes

  • Sign Off status is displayed separately for each Group, Group Class and reporting period

  • Visibility of Sign Off actions may vary depending on user permissions and workflow configuration

  • Sign Off provides visibility and control across the reporting and close process

  • Workflow stages and approval structures may vary based on organisational setup
